Iran's nuclear boast causes international anxiety

JUST a day after revealing a tenfold increase in its nuclear fuel enrichment capability, Iran reported that its ambitions go much further still.

On 9 April, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced that Iran had begun “industrial scale” enrichment of uranium with the inauguration of 3000 centrifuges at its Natanz plant in Isfahan province. Then in a statement issued the following day, Reza Aqazadeh, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said: “Installation of centrifuges will continue steadily until we have 50,000 operating. There is no way back.”
