Now you can “wash” your car even when you can’t use water, thanks to a “wet
wax” sheet developed by the Japanese company Soft99. This multilayer textile
stores a thin bed of detergents and waxes under a layer of short fibres. As the
sheet is wiped over the car, capillary action brings the detergent and wax to
the surface. The cloth’s microscopic pile traps dirt particles, so that they
don’t scratch the paintwork. One wet wax sheet will clean a whole car, says the
maker.
