The biotech giant Monsanto is to have a new name and a corporate makeover.
The company will be known as Pharmacia from this summer after merging its drugs
business with Pharmacia & Upjohn of Peapack, New Jersey. Monsanto’s name
will live on in the company’s agricultural biotechnology business. A spokesman
denied that the “makeover” had anything to do with public hostility to
genetically modified foods.
