Despite the best efforts of Russia and the US, the next component of the
International Space Station will miss its scheduled November launch date.
Russia’s long-delayed Service Module won’t be lofted into orbit until 26
December at the earliest. “Basically, there are software issues,” says NASA
spokeswoman Kirsten Williams. Incompatibilities between the US and Russian
command and control systems are also contributing to the delay.
