Ministers from countries that are signatories to the Antarctic Treaty will
next week be taken to the frozen continent to see for themselves the threats to
this fragile environment. The mission has been organised by the New Zealand
government, which fears that Antarctic environmental protection is becoming a
low political priority. The delegation will stay for four days at New Zealand’s
Scott Base and the American McMurdo Station.
