Bit of an oddity, but definitely worth a look is Cyberarts 98. A compendium
of prizewinners in the electronic arts, it contains everything from computer
music to animation, SFX and interactive art that won a Prix Ars Electronica.
There is work by an 8-year-old Dutch girl discovering the delights of MS-Paint,
but there is also New Yorker Wendy Vissar’s elaborate exploration of the
traditional behaviours and codes of her Albanian ancestors compared with her own
online conduct. By Hannes Leopoldseder and Christine Schopf, published by
Springer-Verlag, £23, ISBN 3211831355.
