Spies, the police and investigative reporters who want to record a
conversation clandestinely will find a new tapeless recorder a boon. The Retell,
which costs around £120, uses solid state memory instead of tape and
records for up to 60 minutes. Smaller than a cigarette packet and with no moving
parts, it is completely silent in meetings. It can also be connected to a phone
without making those telltale clicks that a tape makes.
