Britain is considering setting up a Defence Diversification Agency to adapt
military technologies for the benefit of the economy. The agency would develop
joint ventures with industry, and could investigate the use of civil technology
by the military. Defence secretary George Robertson also suggests that science
parks may be established around labs of the existing Defence Evaluation Research
Agency.
