A student in San Diego who sent a mass of junk e-mails over the Internet in
March has been ordered to pay $13 000 in damages. Craig Nowak forged the
return address on his unsolicited advertisements to avoid the inevitable bounced
messages and hate mail. Unfortunately for Patrick and Tracey LaQuey Parker of
Austin, Texas, he chose the flowers.com domain that hosted their floral
information Web site. The LaQuey Parkers received thousands of abusive
replies.
