The British public is to have its say on cloning. The government’s Human
Genetics Advisory Commission has drafted a report on the issue, following talks
with scientists, industrialists, ethicists and other professionals. It will be
published in the next few weeks. The commission then wants to hear what the
public thinks about Dolly the cloned sheep, and the issues she raises. “We hope
to hold some public meetings where people can come along and make their views
known,” says Colin Campbell, vice-chancellor of Nottingham University, who
chairs the commission.
