Fences made of photovoltaic cells are being erected along a 2-kilometre
stretch of motorway near Utrecht in the Netherlands. The cells will be mounted
at an angle on top of concrete crash barriers. As well as supplying some power
to local homes, they will act as an acoustic barrier to muffle noise from
traffic. The fences were erected by the Dutch power company Energy North
West.
