Sue Bursztynski’s Potions to Pulsars (Allen & Unwin, £4.99, ISBN 1
86373 927 0) is good value for teachers wanting to fire up 10 to 14-year-old
girls with true-life stories of women scientists through the centuries. Badly
let down by poor design and typography, but it is a good read. Mercifully, text
is still important.
