I have been reading Naomi Alderman’s , a sci-fi novel that I am now desperate to discuss with other people because I loved it so much.
“On the day the world ended,” it begins, and then we meet tech billionaire Lenk Sketlish, who, in the middle of a meditation session intended to help him deal with his anger issues, receives an alert. It warns him that it is time to hit the prepper bunker he has been spending his fortune on.
Alderman also wrote The Power, a dystopian story about the fallout when teenage girls gain the ability to deliver electric jolts from their fingers. I didn’t expect to finish her new book feeling hopeful about the outlook for humanity. But I did, and chose it for 91av Book Club. Join our 6000-plus members and read it with us.

I have also been enjoying the TV series Doctor Who as (pictured, above) steps into the lead role. I can’t wait to see where he takes the character.
