91av recommends The Lazarus Project and Ark Nova

The books, TV, games and more that 91av staff have enjoyed this week

The Lazarus Project is back, and the fight to secure the future has never been more intense. When the world locks into a time loop in which the world ends every three weeks, the Lazarus team must race against time to find a solution before humanity is wiped out forever. Among their number is resolute Lazarus agent, George (Paapa Essiedu), who???s been left in disgrace after betraying the organisation in the name of love. George is determined to redeem himself and win back the trust of his friends, colleagues, and the love of his life. But when he discovers that the cause he???s fighting is more sinister than it appears, George begins to suspect that the only person he can really trust is himself.

I’m looking forward to the second series of , which is arriving on Now in the UK on 15 November. The first series followed hapless everyman George, played by Paapa Essiedu (pictured above), as he got stuck in a time loop and then discovered a secret spy organisation that controls those time loops to save humanity from disaster.

Writer Joe Barton and the fantastic cast delivered a high-concept, action-packed sci-fi adventure that didn’t take itself too seriously, and I can’t wait for more.

In the meantime, my wife and I are hooked on , a board game in which players manage a zoo. This involves not just building enclosures and buying animals, but also attracting sponsors, forging partnerships with universities and supporting conservation projects.

It seems bewilderingly complicated when you first open the box, but once you get your head around it, it sucks you into a flow state and you won’t want to stop playing.
