A TEAM at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology wants to use electronic tags to reveal where garbage ends up so that it can be deposited in the right place or, best of all, be given a second life as a recycled product.

The first generation of tags uses cellphone SIM cards. With ID chips, tagging could be more widespread, though there . This technology will help us take ownership of our pollution. We will never again be able to throw things away: there will be no “away”.
