TEN Ignobel prizes are awarded each year. They are handed out for research that makes people laugh and then makes them think. You are not going to laugh out loud, red-faced, at the items here but you are in for an amusing time in reading about them and perhaps more than that if you share the accounts with incredulous others. There’s nothing more to be said, really.
Science can do with humour to keep its sense of proportion. A glance at the titles of these amazing researches will convey the wry flavour of the book and you will not need any more persuasion than that to pursue the enjoyment. Who can resist such as “Chicken Plucking and Tornado Wind Speed” or “Politicians’ Uniquely Simple Personalities”?
