Finding lost documents and photos could soon be a lot easier (US 2004/141790). Hewlett-Packard is developing an ink-jet printer loaded with a roll of adhesive radio-frequency identification tags, as well as paper. An induction coil writes each tag’s memory with data about what is being printed, and the print head sticks the tag on the paper. The tags can then be interrogated by waving a hand-held reader over them, revealing the extra details about what’s on the page. It could also help you find photos or documents in the junk on your desk.
