Here’s a sad sign of the times. David Morrow of Lancashire says proof of consent is the best defence against accusations of rape, but you can hardly ask for something in writing at a time of high passion. Morrow’s answer is a special condom package that aims to “record evidence of consent to engage in a sexual act” (WO 0215785). His idea is to pack a foil-sealed condom inside a fold-out inner sleeve and an outer carton. The consenting parties jointly pull out the inner sleeve, and open it to release the condom, recording their fingerprints on the sleeve surface. This is then slipped back in the outer carton as a record of mutual consent. Date marks also let people record the time of consent. But not marks out of 10, presumably.
